Every week when I start working on my Le Journal posts, I am always taken with how quickly the week has gone by. I feel like I just did this. Time seems to move quicker as I have gotten older. Have you noticed that?
We had two days of snow here this week, and we rarely get snow here; I do miss the snow. I always look at my calendar to see if I can free up some time for a long walk when it starts to snow. It is always so peaceful, as the world around me seems to slow down briefly. There is something about snow that has always been so magical to me.
Spring is right around the corner, and I am ready for fewer layers. I have a trip planned next weekend to Atlanta, GA, and then two weeks later, I will be back in NYC. I will be sharing highlights from both of these, so stay tuned. And if you have any questions about either of these locations, drop a comment below, and I will respond in a future New York Minute post.
Weekly Highlight!
I have been on the hunt for a crisp, light white wine that I can serve with dinners. I have always loved a good Sauvignon Blanc, specifically ones from the Marlborough Region of New Zealand. Lately, I have found them to be a bit sweeter than I would like. A dear friend turned me on to this Chenin Blanc, made in France, and I must say that I was blown away with the taste and the price. If you’re looking for an affordable crisp white (no Chardonnay taste here), check this one out. It typically retails for around $20 and receives high ratings.
New York Minute | No Buy February
For the month of February, I did a “no-buy” for new clothing. I had never done this before, and it was harder than I had thought. It wasn’t hard because I couldn’t shop; it was hard because I kept seeing so many good end-of-season sales. Sales are my love language. However, I did have one small misstep and bought a pair of ballet flats. There are two reasons for this: the pair I have my eye on are over $200, and these, looking almost identical, were $25. Secondly, I knew if I waited, they would be gone. Oh, the dilemma!

Before I splurge on something, I will often purchase a less expensive version to see if I like it and whether I will get use out of it. I have no problem investing in my closet, but I rarely spend money on something I will not wear often. How cute are these ballet flats? They are pretty cute, so you can probably see why I couldn’t wait. Grab them while you can. Limited sizes are available.
New York Minute | Weekly Styled Look
This week’s New York Minute styled look is all about layers that can be worn alone or together, making them perfect Spring transitional pieces. This look is sophisticated and classic and would easily work for any woman looking for timeless elegance. While these pieces are French forward, they are classic in style and will stand the test of time. This is why I preach so often about investing in quality staples. Fast fashion has its place in my closet, but it is less than 10% of my purchases. Investing in good quality staples that you will have for years to come is a much better use of money.
On the chance you are heading to Paris this Spring, dress accordingly. Paris is more north than NYC longitudinally, meaning it will be colder and damper, often rainy. And this can make it miserable if you aren’t dressed appropriately. Layers at this time of year are your best friend, as is a good trench coat. And always remember to take a small travel umbrella with you.
